One of the most common offences is burglary which was up 20% over this winter. It’s a cruel and callous crime which violates the homeowner and leaves a lasting anxiety for the victims. I would challenge the police to ensure burglaries are responded to and followed up promptly to increase convictions.
With shoplifting offences also on the rise, working with businesses and local shopkeepers to increase prevention methods and using technology to ensure police can better identify and ultimately catch the culprits.
